Description
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a vertical silver unsheathed sword, point down, its grip clasped by the listening appendages of a silver stethoscope and the tube surmounting the blade, all in front of two silver entwined snakes, their heads encircling and surmounting the upper sections of the stethoscope.  In base a maroon scroll inscribed SUPPORT THE LINE in silver.

Symbolism
Maroon and white are colors traditionally associated with the Medical Corps.  The stethoscope, a basic tool of physicians, suspended from a sword symbolizes the military medical mission of the Battalion.  The serpents allude to the great heritage of medicine and healing.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved 12 June 1967.  It was amended to revise the description and symbolism on 29 October 1993.

Crest

The tower recalls the units participation in World War II campaigns in the Rhineland and Central Europe.  The dragon represents the Battalions service during the war in Vietnam.  Scarlet stands for courage and sacrifice; gold is for excellence.

Background
The coat of arms was approved on 29 October 1993.  It was amended to add the crest on 7 March 1994.
